Waiheke and wine

Yesterday, Saturday, We had a spontaneous, well almost, trip to Waiheke Island about 45 minutes ferry ride from Auckland.  We left from Half-moon Bay, on the Sea-Link ferry, arrived at the wharf in Putiki Bay just north of Kennedy Point, and then got the bus into the main shopping area.  Breakfast at the Solar Café and then a short walk to the Sandbar for the first beer of the day.

Next a taxi to Mudbrick Vineyard for a quick taste of the local Merlot. And a shortish walk (it was quiet warm by now) to Cable Bay Vineyard where we had a couple more cheeky reds. Some stunning views and some nice eye candy too.  Even had a helicopter on the lawn.  We too a taxi back don to the Irish bar fro a game of pool and a few Kilkenny’s.  Then back on the ferry and home for Vindaloo over chips. Then bed.

Magic day nice people and will be back there again I am sure.
